OK, better a late post than none at all! After an amazingly busy 2 weeks of studying like mad for exams and planning the move, I have a spare hour with 2 of my exams over.
For May, my foodie penpal was the lovely Bridget from Ireland. In the parcel she sent me there was tayto crisps, which hubby ran off with when he was on the road, some chocolate honeycomb heats which we lovely tasting, but I only got one of them before the other half scoffed the rest! They were so tasty and separately wrapped which made them perfect for a small bite of chocolate without going overboard, I will have to see if I can find them here. There was a handy tub of mixed seeds that I took to work to have in my cereal in the morning. The chocolate covered rice cakes are also at work for when I need a health snack.
I have yet to try the morse flower jam though I think I want to use it in baking, but have to try it first to see what it will go with. So all in all a lovely locally sourced parcel.
If you would like to get involved, please check out Carol Anne’s blog. She very kindly runs the program and matches us all and coordinates the matches along with everything else that is involved every month. You get matched with someone every month, one person sends you a parcel and you send to the other match. There is a £10 limit, and it gets really creative. I have had some amazing parcels and met some really lovely people from all over the EU. It is really social and a great way to try all sorts of cuisines.
Check out this link for how it works.
Have a good one!
